to berkeley with love

lean in

breath out

sit down, relax

one step forward

two steps back

22, away from home

young and broke

trying to get on

that spiritual high

professional ambition makes me coast by

i am a woman

hear me roar

but don’t judge my anger

and assume i’m not more

i’m just here to find peace

was in my own backyard

or did i need to go far

i don’t have a car anymore

so now i walk

small distances

but yet i feel

much closer than i was before

it’s funny how you have to uproot yourself

to get to the root of yourself

but i’m still digging

i wrote this on the BART one day after a long work day and having read Lean In.
